Not like it matters since I never post on this thing . . . . But I'm not checking this anymore. You can find me on facebook. Things are much more interesting over there and I don't have to worry about TMI. Good Bye LJ!

Hallelujah. Here's to making history. May the next four years be about working towards change and emphasizing the great qualities of America.
I hope everyone else is enjoying this amazing election with a glass of champagne, like me. Let's hope that Prop 8 passes. Equality for all!
P.S. I am so happy that I don't have to move to Canada.

-The weather in the East Bay was perfect yesterday. Warm with a slightly cool breeze. Just how I like it. I really wish I could got to NY this summer, but no chance. I'll be lucky if I get to take any vacation at all. All my money is going to dentist stuff. No fun.

| Plans |
[02 Feb 2008|05:09pm] |
It's been awhile since I have gone out to clubs and other events. I finally signed up for City CarShare trail program so I have a little more freedom.
Despite the icky weather I have mega plans for Feb. and March that will hopefully be achieved.
Feb. 5th Club Shutter a social event for uber fashionable darklings.
Feb. 7th Lacquer at the Beauty Bar (may go, may not)electroindie dark music supposedly.
Feb 21st-Louder than Bombs - a tribute night to Morrissey and The Smiths- Beauty Bar
Feb. 23rd High on Fire baby!! in Oaktown - Sooo there!!
Feb. 28th- StellaStarr playing at the Noisepop festival-Great American Music Hall. Been waiting to see these guys live.
Feb. 29th- 4AD Records Tribute night- This club only happens every 3 months with a tribute night to a certain record label. The first night I went it was Factory records and Manchester bands. It was pretty fun, despite the small dance floor.
If I lived in the city or had a designated driver any night of the week, this would be my little social agenda for the month. Unfortunately, I don't have a driver or a drinking budget anymore . . . . :(
Sometimes I miss Santa Cruz for this reason- It was very convenient to walk downtown safely, get cheap drinks at The Blue (thank you Sal!) and walk back drunk any night of the week- just wish that little town had more fun events to go to.

I got myself a new little toy yesterday.
It's super cool and I don't mind the mini video screen. My last ipod, which was a 1st generation mini, was dying on me. I could charge it for hours and the thing would only play for 15-20 minutes before it died. So yeah for new toys that work!
I'm also going to see these guys tonight.

I find their music to be more fun than amazing and intelligent. I'm hoping just to have a good time filled with dancing and drinking.

The Michael Jackson thriller dance gathering didn't happen at Dolores Park today. Or at least, I couldn't find it . . . . instead there was a gigantic war protest going on. I don't know if the event got cancelled or if they moved it to a different location. Alas, I could find no zombies and heard no "thriller." If anyone in SF knows if it actually happened can you let me know where and when? I'm bummed I missed it.
Was planning on going to this fashion tonight,

but I just got back from the city and am not up for hanging out with uber hip smartly dressed folks in a crowded space. Even if there is free booze.
Instead, I'm going to rent a scary movie, drink beer, and make some Halloween decorations.
So yeah, that's what I do on Saturday nights now. No crazy social outings for me! I was shocked to find that I didn't go to bed till 1am last night. I rarely stay up late anymore-even on the weekends, it's a little pathetic I guess . . . .
I think if I lived in SF it would be a little different or if I had a car. C'est la vie!

I'm thinking of doing this tomorrow afternoon. What are you doing?
Hopefully I'll have enough time to learn the dance moves. If not, at least it is a good photo op. I can't wait!!

WWII reenactment at Fort Ord-Monterey *Work in Progress*
There is a photo exhibit of Jim Golberg's new material that I want to see in the city. He just recently became a Magnum photographer and was on the cover of Aperture. He is also a teacher at where I work, CCA. Hopefully, I will be able to take a class with him. I'm really impressed by his work with people and the color he achieves.
Show at The Stephen Wirtz Gallery (located on the 3rd floor of 49 Geary St in San Francisco) The work will be on display from October 4th until November 10th.

I'm taking a color photography class for free at my work (CCA). One of the perks of my newish job.
Anyways, I'd thought I'd share my first few color photos. My scanner isn't too great, so they are a little rough and I'm still working on my color balancing.
( Check them out )

| Great Music |
[28 Sep 2007|10:02pm] |
I saw Morrissey last night. It was beautiful. The man is an amazing singer and performer. I don't believe I have ever seen anyone so passionate about music and his fans.
Humorous and full of charm- it was a delight. I was thrilled to her him sing 'Girlfriend in a Coma.'
Already I've been to two great shows since my move to the East Bay.
First, Slayer and Marilyn Manson, then Morrissey. I'm thinking of buying tickets to see Ozzy tomorrow. Trust me, I'd much rather see Sabbath-but you gotta work with what you got. Plus, I would loooove to hear Crazy Train live!!
By the way, Slayer was fucking awesome-- Marilyn Manson, entertaining, but not amazing.

I saw This Movie yesterday at the Parkway Theater. It was an awesome zombie movie. The theater is great too. The place offers real food and pitchers of beer which you can order and enjoy while watching the show. And matinees are only $4!! Amazing deal!
The bus ride over was tedious and depressing though. Driving down MLK jr. Way in Oakland is a firm reminder that race and poverty are still strongly linked together and that society has a nice way of pushing these issues to the outskirts of the city.
That was one reason why I left Santa Cruz. I couldn't get over how much a liberal town was in denial over its innate racism (and partial segregation).
Oakland may not be as safe, but at least it's diverse and there is no denying the fact. To say the least, I've seen some pretty interesting things go down since I've been here . . . .

| Tonite, tonite . . . . |
[21 Jul 2007|07:53pm] |
Been in Oakland for a few weeks now. Finally venturing out to the city to go clubbin' tonight.
Going to what is the remnants of Dark Sparkle aka After Dark tonite at Julie's Supper Club. Hoping to dance me little ass off. Unfortunately I won't be drinking since I has ta drive meself back over the bridge to Oaktown . . . . Only bummer about going to the city:
-must rent car to travel and venture out at nite in SF. (Can't take the bart back, doesn't run late enough, and not safe) -must not drink.
Oh, and my rental car smells like really, really bad stinky perfume. I'm totally seriou. It sticks to my clothes. Major Sucko . . . . .

I find it sad yet extremely comforting that my high school friends whom I may not correspond with everyday are still the most reliable and loving people in my life . . . . . I think I am one of those few that can look past those awful, awkward moments of teenage youth and say that I did NOT hate high school but actually really, really enjoyed it.
Some of the best times of my life were with my high school buddies and being apart of the drama freak crew. And sometimes I really, really miss those days.

Only two more weeks before my big move to Oakland. And things really seem to be falling into place. I've got my new place, which is cute and affordable. (I love my hardwood floors!!) I have a new job!!! That's right. I went in for an interview on Tuesday and got offered the job on Wednesday. I'm so excited!
I'll be working at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, in the Student Records office. Basically I will be helping students with registration, etc. I'll be making a little less than I do now, but that's okay. The main goal was to have a job when I moved up there. Plus, I'll have benefits, which I have to pay a little more for since the school is so small (I'm going from a 15,000 student campus to 1,800- that's a BIG difference). But there are other perks: -It is right by new place so I can basically ride my bike and be at work in 10 minutes -I can take any art classes that don't conflict with my work schedule for FREE! -No more working weekends (I think?) -And I have a feeling I'm going to really like the people I'll be working with. It seems very casual. -And the Best Perk: I'm not working in a bookstore!! Good Bye Book Business!!!
The next couple of weeks I'm trying to hang out with a few old friends, most who don't seem interested in spending time with me. *Shrug* . . . . Another reason why I'm moving.
I'm looking forward to being closer to the City and going out to more clubs and meeting new people. I really, really need this change and I have a feeling that a lot more opportunities will be coming my way.

The Skinny Puppy show was awesome Thursday night. I have not been to a show in such a long time. I was so surprised with how many people showed up from the greater Bay Area. I definitely did my fair share of drinking that night considering that I danced like a crazy monkey, and had conversations with people that I barely remember. I'm still in that stage where I'm asking myself, 'Did I really say that?!? What the f*ck was I saying anyway?' Ugh . . . . it's become clear that my low tolerance for alcohol these days results in me catching a severe case of diarrhea of the mouth.
The after effects of my social/drinking inexperience were felt deeply on Friday at work, fo' sure. It was all worth it though. Skinny Puppy put on a really great show. My greatest regret is that I didn't bring my camera. Now I understand why camera phones are so popular. Definitely a convenient thing to have at a show.

| Go ahead, and veto mofo! |
[24 Mar 2007|12:17pm] |
Although I tend to think that the Democratic Party is full of pansies, it is still nice to see that some trouble is being stirred up and old issues are finally being brought to the public's notice.
All this talk of Bush vetoing the upcoming funding bill actually makes me smile. Of course, I would prefer for the bill to pass, but if Mr.W gets on his hi-horse and vetos, those poor Republicans will lose even more votes- thus the Democrats would have a better chance at winning the 2008 elections.
If only there was an actual decent Democratic candidate running. Come on Gore, throw your hat into the ring . . . . Please?
